Job description
Overview
Keda Ghana Ceramics Company Limited invites applications for the position of Business Manager to act as the key intermediary between the new Glass Project and external entities such as government bodies, traditional authorities, utility companies, and local communities. The role aims to firmly establish the factory’s legal, social, and operational frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulations and seamless infrastructure integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the process of land transfers involving Stool and private lands, coordinating with the Lands Commission to verify the legality of leaseholds and title registrations.
- Develop and sustain robust relationships with the Traditional Council and local Chiefs, resolving disputes about boundaries, compensation, or construction issues proactively.
- Manage local labor requisites and community expectations to avoid protests or interruptions during construction.
- Maintain the social license to operate by engaging continuously with the community stakeholders.
- Lead negotiations and monitor progress with GRIDCo/ECG for high-voltage electricity supply and with GWCL for industrial water services.
- Coordinate the sourcing of gas and oversee infrastructure work with GNPC and Ghana Gas, including management of gas station construction and pricing negotiations.
- Supervise local contractors for site preparation and building access roads.
- Handle the registration with GIPC and pursue quota approvals to obtain customs duty exemptions for imported equipment.
- Manage logistics regarding clearance of heavy industrial machinery at ports like Tema or Takoradi and resolve Customs disputes on inspections and duties.
- Lead the Free Zone status application process via GFZB, securing applicable tax advantages.
- Ensure continuous compliance by renewing all critical permits such as those from EPA, GSA, GNFS, and District Assembly.
- Serve as the principal contact for GIS (Immigration) and Police Service, manage external inspections, and maintain operational security.
- Coordinate crisis response and security measures with relevant authorities.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least five years’ experience managing large industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects within Ghana.
- Comprehensive understanding of Ghanaian government administrative systems and the Land Act.
- Established contacts and communication lines within Customs (GRA), Lands Commission, ECG/GRIDCo, or energy sectors.
- Fluent English proficiency.
- Excellent diplomatic and negotiation skills with a capability to manage complex social and hierarchical structures.
- Experience handling Free Zone applications and related administrative processes.
- Background or familiarity with glass manufacturing or heavy industry projects is advantageous.
