Job description

Job Overview

We are looking to hire a proficient Business Manager who will act as the strategic intermediary between our upcoming Glass Project and various external stakeholders such as government bodies, traditional authorities, utility companies, and local communities. The main objective is to establish secure legal, social, and operational foundations for the factory to guarantee seamless infrastructure integration and ensure full compliance with regulations.

Key Duties

  • Oversee land transfer processes involving Stool Lands and private properties by working closely with the Lands Commission to confirm leasehold legality and title registrations.
  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with the Traditional Council and local Chiefs, preemptively addressing disputes related to boundaries, compensation, or construction impacts.
  • Manage local labor needs and community expectations to minimize protest risks or delays during construction.
  • Maintain the social license to operate through continuous community engagement.
  • Lead negotiations and monitor progress with GRIDCo/ECG for high-voltage electrical grid connections and with GWCL for industrial water provisions.
  • Facilitate gas sourcing and infrastructure collaboration with GNPC and Ghana Gas, managing gas station construction and pricing agreements.
  • Supervise local contractors in executing site leveling and constructing essential access roads.
  • Handle registration with GIPC and pursue quotas that allow customs duty exemptions on imported machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate clearance of large industrial equipment through Tema or Takoradi ports, resolving inspection or duty disagreements with GRA-Customs.
  • Lead Free Zone status application proceedings with GFZB and obtain related tax advantages as applicable.
  • Ensure acquisition and renewal of all mandatory permits from the EPA, GSA, GNFS, and District Assembly.
  • Serve as the main liaison for GIS and Police Service, managing external inspections and ensuring site security.
  • Oversee crisis response measures and coordinate security with authorized agencies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional background in large-scale industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects within Ghana.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Ghanaian government administrative procedures and the Land Act.
  • Established communication pathways within Customs (GRA), Lands Commission, ECG/GRIDCo, or relevant energy sectors.
  • Proficient in English language communication.
  • Exceptional diplomatic and negotiation skills capable of navigating complex social structures.
  • Experience handling Free Zone applications and their management.
  • Knowledge of glass manufacturing processes or involvement in heavy industrial projects is advantageous.
