Job description

Role Overview

Steer is hiring a Pipeline Manager to own the daily management, strategic direction, and overall effectiveness of the company’s business development pipeline. The position is central to improving visibility, consistency, and data-led decision-making across active opportunities.

In this role, you will act as the main coordinator for pipeline tracking, forecasting, and reporting, partnering closely with leadership, marketing, and business unit teams to improve pipeline quality and conversion performance.

Time Allocation

The work is broadly split between pipeline governance and forecasting/reporting.

Pipeline Oversight and Strategy

  • Maintain and refine CRM-based pipeline tracking so records remain complete and accurate.
  • Work with Key Account Managers to surface, shape, and prioritize opportunities with strategic clients.
  • Run pipeline review sessions with leadership, covering priorities, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Define and track performance indicators such as pipeline value, conversion rate, and win/loss patterns.
  • Help guide go/no-go decisions by combining pipeline data with market intelligence.
  • Spot coverage gaps and coordinate with leadership and marketing to close them, from early marketing activity through proposal work and contract stage alignment.
  • Support lead generation efforts, including bid aggregators and proactive opportunity sourcing.
  • Coordinate proposal prioritization and resourcing with the Proposal Production Manager, including team setup, red team reviews, and design support.
  • Ensure pipeline data is standardized, reliable, and consistently reported across all stages.

Forecasting and Reporting

  • Prepare recurring pipeline and revenue forecasts to support executive planning.
  • Create dashboards and reports that turn pipeline information into practical business insights.
  • Review trends by sector, client, and geography to guide growth strategy.
  • Support annual and quarterly planning with projections based on the pipeline.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the wider sales and marketing team when extra coverage is needed.

Requirements

Steer is looking for candidates with 4–7 years of experience in business development, CRM administration, or sales operations. Experience using Insightly is helpful but not mandatory. Applicants are encouraged even if they do not meet every qualification.

  • Ability to interpret pipeline information and convert it into strategic recommendations.
  • Experience building or managing workflows, systems, and cross-team process consistency.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM platforms; Insightly is preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to proposal development is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to clean, reliable data.
  • Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A self-directed approach that works well in a flexible hybrid environment.

Benefits

This is a full-time remote role offering a salary of USD 85,000 to 90,000 per year, plus benefits.

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 3% 401(k)/RRSP contribution.
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
  • Paid time off that includes vacation, public holidays, sick leave, and volunteering days, totaling up to 44 days per year in the US and 47 days per year in Canada.
  • Group Share Incentive Plan that lets employees participate in the firm’s long-term success.
  • Commuter benefits for US-based employees.

Why People Join Steer
