Job description

Role Overview

Steer is hiring a Pipeline Manager to own the day-to-day leadership, planning, and performance management of the company’s business development pipeline. This position is central to bringing structure, visibility, and data-led decision-making to active pursuits.

In this role, you will act as the main coordinator for pipeline monitoring, reporting, and forecasting. You’ll work alongside leadership, marketing, and business unit teams to improve pipeline quality, strengthen conversion, and support growth planning.

Pipeline Oversight and Strategy

This part of the role accounts for about 70% of the time and focuses on keeping the pipeline organized, accurate, and aligned to business goals.

  • Manage and continuously improve CRM-based pipeline tracking so records remain complete and reliable.
  • Work with Key Account Managers to surface and position priority opportunities for major clients.
  • Run pipeline review sessions with leadership and help guide conversations around priorities, risks, and potential wins.
  • Track and evaluate KPIs such as pipeline value, conversion performance, and win/loss patterns.
  • Support go/no-go decisions by combining pipeline intelligence with market context.
  • Spot coverage gaps and partner with leadership and marketing to close them across the funnel, from marketing activity through proposals and contracting.
  • Handle lead-generation activities, including bid aggregators and proactive opportunity sourcing.
  • Coordinate proposal prioritization and resourcing with the Proposal Production Manager, including team setup, red team reviews, and design support.
  • Protect data quality through standardization and consistent reporting across every pipeline stage.

Forecasting and Reporting

This portion makes up roughly 30% of the role and supports planning and performance management through clear pipeline insights.

  • Prepare recurring pipeline and revenue forecasts for executive use.
  • Create dashboards and reporting tools that turn raw pipeline data into practical recommendations.
  • Review trends by sector, client, and geography to shape growth direction.
  • Contribute to annual and quarterly business planning with pipeline-based projections.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist wider sales and marketing teams as needed to ensure team coverage and continuity of work.

Requirements

Steer is looking for someone with 4 to 7 years of experience in business development, CRM administration, or sales operations. Experience with Insightly is helpful, though it is not mandatory. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every requirement exactly.

  • Strong analytical ability with the capacity to interpret pipeline information and turn it into strategic guidance.
  • Proven ability to manage processes, systems, and data consistency across multiple teams.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM platforms, ideally Insightly.
  • Exposure to proposal development is an advantage.
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on accurate, trustworthy reporting.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-driven mindset and the ability to work independently in a hybrid in-person/remote setting.

Benefits and Growth

Steer emphasizes learning and development at every stage of a career. Team members are supported to build new skills, deepen their expertise, and take on opportunities that increase their impact over time through structured programs and on-the-job learning.

The company also offers a flexible hybrid working culture designed to support wellbeing, financial security, and professional growth.

This is a full-time remote role with a compensation range of USD 85,000 to 90,000 per year, plus benefits.

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 3% 401(k)/RRSP contribution.
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
  • Paid time off that includes vacation, public holidays, sick leave, and volunteering days, up to 44 days annually in the US and 47 days annually in Canada.
  • Group Share Incentive Plan that allows employees to participate in the long-term success of the firm.
  • Commuter benefits for US-based employees.

Why People Join Steer

  • Collaborative work culture with global teamwork.
  • Projects that create meaningful improvements in how people move and connect.
  • Exposure to experts focused on mobility and city planning.
  • Flexibility to develop consulting and professional skills aligned to personal ambition.

Fairness and Inclusion

Steer recruits based on capability, curiosity, and potential rather than pedigree or background. The hiring process is designed to be fair and inclusive, and accommodations are available during hiring and employment so that all candidates and employees can participate fully.

Application and Interview Process

Applicants are asked to submit a resume and a cover letter explaining their interest in the position and relevant background.

The hiring process is structured and skills-focused, with multiple stages:

  • Initial interview: 30 minutes on Zoom with the hiring and reporting manager to discuss background, interest, and fit.
  • Team interview and portfolio review: 60 minutes on Zoom with team members to explore experience and past work in more depth.
  • Design exercise: a short assignment reviewed anonymously by the team, followed by a discussion.
  • Final conversation: 30 minutes on Zoom or in person with leadership to review expectations, team fit, and compensation.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
