Job description
Role Overview
You will support the Assistant Director (OneNS Product Management) in shaping and delivering the NS Business Architecture. The role involves improving business processes, carrying out user experience research, and mapping capabilities across a complex MINDEF/SAF and DSTA environment. You will help turn strategic architecture goals into practical outcomes by working across departments and using approaches such as Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking, and The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF).
Key Work Areas
- Assist with re-engineering initiatives for a range of NS business processes, covering operations, training, NS policy, HR, and IT, with the aim of improving effectiveness and efficiency.
- Document current-state processes, design future-state processes based on business needs, and perform gap analysis to shape the re-engineering plan.
- Use Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process-improvement methods to identify inefficiencies and develop streamlined, faster, and more strategically aligned workflows.
- Run co-design sessions with operational teams and business stakeholders so that future processes are practical and supported by the people who will use them.
- Convert redesigned processes into product and system requirements for Product Leads.
- Support UX research and usability testing to understand user profiles and behavioural trends, helping ensure solutions meet intended objectives.
- Chart user journeys for important touchpoints across key population groups to spot pain points and decide what should be preserved, changed, or redesigned.
- Drive change management activities linked to process re-engineering, supporting adoption of new processes, systems, and operating models across different stakeholder groups.
- Create change strategies that address cultural, organisational, and technical barriers to digital transformation, adapting the approach for different user groups and contexts.
Candidate Profile
- Background in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Public Policy, or a closely related discipline.
- Prior exposure to digital strategy, enterprise IT, IT governance, or business transformation work is an advantage.
- Experience in a large, complex organisation or public sector setting will be helpful.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture or SaaS/cloud delivery models is desirable.
- Familiarity with business process mapping, business capability modelling, and value stream mapping.
- Experience in business process re-engineering, from baseline assessment and gap analysis through target design, transition planning, and measuring outcomes.
- Exposure to UX research methods and design thinking concepts.
- Ability to apply organisational change management frameworks and stakeholder engagement techniques.
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking abilities, with a strategic mindset.
- Comfort working in ambiguous situations with competing priorities.
- Diplomatic manner with good conflict-resolution and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative leadership style and the ability to build agreement across diverse groups.
