Job description

Role overview

Amazon is hiring a Business Analyst to study transaction patterns, build forecasts, and spot opportunities that improve customer experience and marketplace trust. The position focuses on using data to uncover trends, support decision-making, and help reduce fraud across high-volume e-commerce activity in multiple countries.

This opportunity sits within a customer-focused environment where the role holder is expected to work independently, make sound decisions with discretion, and use analytics to influence partner teams. The work involves solving both tactical and strategic business problems with a strong data-first mindset.

Amazon’s larger goal is to make shopping online effortless and reliable for customers everywhere. The company values diverse perspectives and looks for people who are curious, inventive, practical, and committed to building trust with customers and sellers.

Key responsibilities

  • Examine large and complex data sets to uncover patterns, relationships, and trends.
  • Build SQL queries, develop ETL processes, and prepare dashboards with meaningful business metrics.
  • Partner with business and product teams to understand roadmaps and the downstream effect on data.
  • Produce precise forecasts for workforce management and operations teams so they can plan capacity effectively.
  • Compare forecasted and actual results, identify gaps, and take corrective action to reduce future variance.
  • Assess how business changes affect operations metrics and work backward to address the impact.
  • Identify process gaps and improvement opportunities, propose solutions, and drive implementation.
  • Communicate with partner teams, gather information, share updates, and facilitate discussions using data.
  • Provide consistent, proactive status updates with clear and concise communication.

Required qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical domain.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, including macros, INDEX, conditional lists, arrays, pivots, and lookups.
  • Hands-on experience writing advanced SQL queries across multiple datasets, along with ETL and data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI platforms.
  • Ability to define requirements and convert data and metrics into business insights.

Preferred skills

  • Experience writing scripts for automation using Python, Perl, Ruby, or similar languages.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholder groups.

Workplace and culture

The company emphasizes an inclusive environment and states that accommodation or adjustment support is available during the application, interview, and onboarding process for candidates with disabilities.
