Job description
About the Role
VOLUME 0 is a literary magazine centered on emerging voices in the contemporary literary space. The publication features short fiction from independent authors who are willing to challenge convention. The team is small and collaborative, made up of three editors, and is hiring a Brand Manager to help drive marketing and business growth.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and contributing both at the strategy level and in day-to-day execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a subscriber acquisition funnel and grow the publication’s digital footprint to support business expansion.
- Own and coordinate core brand and marketing channels, including the website, email marketing, social media, and paid advertising.
- Track performance, analyze results, and turn findings into clear next steps and improvements.
- Recruit, organize, and collaborate with freelancers and other external contributors.
- May also contribute to or take the lead on ad sales, sponsorships, partnerships, and brand collaborations.
Candidate Profile
- At least 4 years of experience in brand marketing, creative direction, or social strategy for a consumer or lifestyle brand, preferably with a combination of agency and in-house exposure.
- Prior experience creating an audience-growth or enrollment funnel for a media, content, or consumer-focused brand.
- Genuine interest in indie publishing, literary magazines, and the broader independent literary ecosystem.
- A creative thinker who is comfortable testing bold ideas and pushing beyond conventional approaches.
- Resourceful, proactive, and willing to take a very hands-on approach to the work.
- Strong enough with data, metrics, and basic math to evaluate performance effectively.
- Seeking a role based in the office rather than a remote arrangement.
Compensation
The expected annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $125,000.
