- Set goals, track progress, evaluate results, and adjust tactics when needed.
- Help meet customer expectations for core business needs.
- Adopt and share key account management best practices.
- Build annual plans for key accounts aligned with brand and customer priorities.
- Communicate market trends, consumer insights, and industry best practices internally and externally.
- Influence sales teams to create account-specific programs using local consumer insights.
- Recommend account-level brand and volume mix targets.
- Monitor account performance and take corrective actions when needed.
- Participate in strategy sessions and provide feedback on execution and program results.
- Support category management standards and guidelines for strategic accounts.
- Drive KPI performance including depletions, distribution, ads, displays, features, shelf execution, digital posts, menu placement, wells, house pours, POS, and permanent signage.
- Build relationships with buyers at key accounts.
- Prepare weekly pre-plans and recaps and work toward monthly KPI goals.
- Communicate targets through the local team and partner with sales representatives and managers on priorities.
- Hold weekly check-ins, participate in business reviews, and discuss opportunities.
- Join ride-alongs with sales reps, field teams, and key account managers.
- Present progress updates in weekly team meetings and attend events.
- Manage a core list of off-premise and on-premise accounts.
- Plan account visits and activities, conduct business reviews, activate marketing programs, execute retail controls and brand standards, complete account audits, assess account needs, run consumer sampling, deliver staff education, and publish digital posts.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of responsibility across major accounts.
- Background in budget, sales, and marketing, ideally with a major CPG company.
- A 4-year college degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid understanding of spirits, including categories, basic production, and service.
- Ability to adapt to different internal teams and personality styles.
- Strong negotiation ability and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Comfort with developing and pitching new ideas.
- Self-directed, goal-focused, assertive, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Availability for flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Willingness to travel overnight when needed.
- Ability to attend meetings, company initiatives, and events as requested.
- Awareness of federal, state, and local laws affecting alcohol and beverage accounts.
- Experience handling complex customer relationships.
- Strong selling, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Leadership presence with strong presentation and interpersonal ability.
- Comfort using fact-based selling and syndicated consumer data such as IRI and Nielsen.
- Basic knowledge of brand marketing and finance.
- Working computer skills, including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
Compensation and benefits
The expected base salary for this role is $65,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience, education, and overall qualifications.
