Board Member with Expertise in Finance, Legal or Clinical Governance

Position Overview

Community Support Incorporated is looking to appoint voluntary Board Directors with professional experience in finance, legal governance, or clinical governance to enhance the Board’s collective expertise. These positions are designed for experienced individuals who aspire to contribute strategically to a community-focused, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering quality services amid evolving regulatory challenges.

Role Summary

In this role, Board Directors will shape the strategic direction, ensure financial stability, and oversee governance. Collaborating with other directors and the leadership team, they will safeguard the organisation’s compliance with legal and regulatory standards while focusing on service excellence and community benefits. Directors are expected to uphold integrity, ethical decision-making, and act in the organisation's best interest.

Desired Expertise

• Finance: Senior-level experience in finance, accounting, or auditing, with capability to interpret financial statements and guide financial sustainability.
• Legal: Legal qualifications or professional background with strong grasp of governance, compliance, risk management, and regulatory environments.
• Clinical Governance: Experience in clinical governance or quality and safety oversight within health, aged care, disability, or community services, familiar with regulatory standards and continuous improvement processes.

Board experience is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate strategic insight, sound judgement, and passion for community welfare.

Key Duties

• Engage in monthly board meetings and strategic planning.
• Participate in governance oversight, risk management, and organisational performance reviews.
• Provide expert advice on finance, legal, or clinical governance matters as applicable.
• Help foster a robust governance culture and support effective decision-making on the board.

Commitments and Participation

This voluntary role requires attending approximately eleven board meetings annually. Directors will serve on a board sub-committee with options for hybrid or online participation to offer flexibility.
