Overview
The Benefits Manager at Baha Mar plays a vital role in supporting the Director of Benefits by designing, implementing, administering, and continuously enhancing employee benefit programs. This position ensures that all benefits are competitive, cost-effective, well communicated, and comply with relevant Bahamian laws, company policies, and Baha Mar’s standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and evaluate employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, wellness, and other benefits.
- Contribute to developing benefit strategies that aid in attracting, retaining, and fostering a positive employee culture aligned with Baha Mar’s “Better Than Best” philosophy.
- Oversee annual renewals, open enrollment, and enrollments for new hires, ensuring accurate and timely communications to staff and stakeholders.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with insurance providers, brokers, third-party administrators, payroll, finance, IT, legal, and HR teams.
- Monitor benefit usage, plan performance, market trends, participation rates, and cost drivers; deliver detailed reports and recommendations to leadership.
- Ensure precision in benefits data, eligibility, deductions, and documentation across HRIS and related systems.
- Manage premium billings, audits, reconciliations, and invoice approvals in conjunction with payroll, finance, and vendors.
- Address and resolve inquiries related to benefits, eligibility, claims, and escalations from employees and leaders.
- Develop and maintain informative communications, guides, training materials, and resources to support employee understanding and engagement.
- Ensure full compliance of all benefits programs and administration with Bahamian regulations, National Insurance stipulations, company policies, and internal controls.
- Assist with leave management, accommodations, and related benefits coordination alongside HR leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Supervise and mentor the Benefits Specialist, focusing on high-quality service delivery, accuracy, and process improvement.
- Continuously identify and implement opportunities to streamline benefits processes and enhance employee experience.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving benefit practices, local regulations, market trends, and statutory changes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Preferred college degree in Business, Hospitality, or a related field.
- At least five years of management experience within HR and Benefits or Insurance.
