Job description
Role overview
Pret is hiring a full-time Barista for 35 hours each week at the Southgate Centre in Bath. The position is based at Unit S015, Southgate Centre, Bath BA1 1AP, GBR.
Pret describes itself as a maker of quality food, organic coffee, and innovative ideas, with more than 750 shops across 20+ countries. The company emphasizes growth, teamwork, and fast-moving shop environments where people can build careers and develop new skills.
About the opportunity
This shop role offers a chance to work with a brand that values development, service, and teamwork. Pret highlights that many of its managers and support centre employees began their careers on the shop floor, and it encourages people to grow their own path within the business.
What the role involves
The Barista will prepare Pret’s barista drinks, including iced drinks, and ensure each beverage is made carefully and consistently. The role requires taking ownership of drink quality and delivering each cup with energy and care.
Before serving customers independently, the successful candidate will complete several weeks of training to build confidence, speed, and the skills needed to produce Pret’s organic coffee to standard.
What Pret is looking for
Pret is seeking a strong team player who is enthusiastic about coffee and committed to excellent service. The ideal person brings warmth, honesty, generosity, and a genuine willingness to learn and grow.
Extra information
The role comes with an hourly pay rate of £14.55, which includes the mystery shopper bonus. Once initial training is completed, shifts that begin between 3am and 5am earn an additional £5 per hour.
The package also includes 28 days of annual leave on a pro-rata basis for part-time employees, a pension scheme, a healthcare cash plan, free food and drink during working hours, and Club Pret membership when off shift. Club Pret includes 50% off food and up to 5 free barista-made drinks per day. Other benefits include loyalty rewards after 5, 10, 15, and 20 years of service, regular recognition for strong performance, marketplace discounts across shopping, travel, fitness, dining, tech, and more, flexible working hours, and free comfortable shoes for shifts.
Pret also states that it provides learning opportunities, including fully funded professional qualifications, apprenticeships at Level 3, and internal transfer opportunities. The company emphasizes diversity and belonging, a fast pace with variety, and a community-focused purpose through The Pret Foundation, including work around homelessness, food waste reduction, and broader social impact.
Interview process
The hiring process begins with an initial phone screening, followed by a 60-minute shop-based interview with the General Manager and the team.

Pret’s values are: Happy Teams Happy Customers, Amazing Standards Every day, Never Standing Still, and Doing The Right Thing.
