Role overview
Hamad International Airport is looking for an experienced and highly organized Aviation Safety Specialist to support aviation safety, investigation, and regulatory compliance activities. The position suits someone who works well in a fast-moving setting, communicates clearly, and has solid experience in safety standards, leadership, and stakeholder coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Line Manager in maintaining and updating aviation safety and investigation programs so they remain aligned with SMS requirements and aviation safety standards.
- Work closely with aerodrome departments and airport stakeholders to address safety-related needs and ensure smooth coordination across teams.
- Check that aviation safety procedures are compliant with QCAR regulations and meet required standards for safe airport operations.
- Help maintain the Hazard Log and Risk Register, contribute to MATAR documentation needs, and track possible hazards in line with State Regulator expectations.
- Set out and document threat and hazard identification as well as risk management processes according to the MATAR Safety Management System manual.
- Prepare risk assessments and safety cases, and assist with aeronautical studies to support non-compliance handling while keeping all documentation operationally relevant.
- Coordinate and support aerodrome oversight inspections carried out by the QCAA Aerodrome Standards Directorate and help ensure readiness for inspection.
- Assist with aerodrome certification activities by helping meet compliance requirements and keeping documents current.
Qualifications and skills
- High School, Vocational, or Diploma qualification, with the diploma type depending on the role, plus at least 5 years of job-related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, plus at least 4 years of job-related experience.
- Completion of Safety Management Systems (SMS) training from ICAO or ACI.
- Completion of the ICAO Annex 14 training course.
- Completion of Apron Management training from ICAO or ACI.
- Project management training from a recognized institution.
- Experience in technical writing, including the preparation and development of documents, manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to translate complex aviation safety policies into clear procedures and practical feedback.
