Job description
Role overview
This is a remote contract opportunity for an Australian English Language Expert. The role involves contributing language expertise to train and improve AI systems through accurate text review and natural voice recordings. Prior experience in artificial intelligence is not necessary; the emphasis is on strong Australian English knowledge and careful language work.
Key responsibilities
- Check machine-created English transcripts and refine them to ensure they are accurate and linguistically sound.
- Read supplied passages aloud and capture them using a clear, natural Australian English accent.
- Work in a quiet setting and produce clean audio without needing specialist recording equipment.
- Help improve AI language datasets so they better reflect everyday Australian English usage, tone, and expressions.
- Coordinate with the client team and share observations or feedback on transcription and audio instructions.
- Apply close attention to detail when reviewing both written content and spoken output for mistakes or inconsistencies.
- Protect sensitive information and follow required data security practices throughout the assignment.
Required skills and qualifications
- Native-level fluency in Australian English in both writing and speaking.
- Solid understanding of Australian English pronunciation, phonetics, and diction.
- Ability to correct transcripts efficiently and identify inaccuracies quickly.
- Clear vocal delivery and confidence while recording audio.
- Capacity to work independently in a quiet, low-distraction environment.
- Strong focus on detail and a high standard for language quality.
- Comfort using standard laptop audio recording tools; a professional studio is not required.
Preferred background
Experience in roles such as audio engineer, voice artist, voice actor, or call center specialist with voice training may be helpful. Prior work on transcription, annotation, or language data tasks is also an advantage. Strong written and spoken communication skills are preferred, especially where precision and clarity matter.
Additional information
This position is based remotely and is structured as a contract role. The employer seeks practical language expertise rather than AI-specific experience.
