About the Role
As an Athletics Coordinator II, you'll play a vital part in shaping recreational and athletic initiatives within Castle Rock. You’ll join a collaborative team committed to enhancing community life, preserving the town’s distinctive character, and delivering top-tier recreational programs. The role emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and a dedication to service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, establish, and oversee recreational events, such as leagues, training sessions, and tournaments.
- Mentor and train Athletics Coordinator I staff, volunteers, and other support personnel to maintain high standards of execution and participant satisfaction.
- Assist with scheduling logistics, booking facilities, organizing staffing, and arranging resources like equipment and transportation.
- Monitor and manage the allocation of resources to maintain efficiency and budget adherence.
- Work closely with coaches, athletes, and stakeholders to foster positive experiences and quickly address concerns.
- Oversee program registration, ensuring accuracy in data collection, participant tracking, and reporting.
- Inspect and manage the upkeep of sports equipment and facilities, reporting and addressing maintenance needs promptly.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and applicable regulations throughout all athletic programs and events.
- Gather and analyze feedback, program statistics, and outcome measures to drive continuous improvement in athletic offerings.
- Support promotional and marketing activities for athletic programs.
- Offer general assistance within the athletics department and perform other assigned tasks as needed.
- Be prepared to work occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate program needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in sports, recreation, or related fields is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in organizing athletic programs or coordinating sports/recreation activities; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience with event and staff management is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications (can be attained within 30 days of hire).
- Valid driver’s license.
Technical and Practical Skills
- Understanding of parks and recreation management practices.
- Ability to supervise and instruct team members and volunteers.
- Experience operating sports equipment and scoreboards.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with resource materials such as handbooks, rulebooks, and policy guides.
- Capable of officiating and coaching at various athletic events and across multiple venues.
- Solid communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and relationship-building skills.
- Capacity to interpret field diagrams and facility dimensions.
Additional Information
- Prior to employment, a satisfactory motor vehicle and criminal background check are required.
- Role necessitates physical access to athletic fields during events, sometimes at separate sites within a shift.
