Overview
The Associate Shopper & Category Insights Advisor for Amazon plays a crucial role in supporting Unilever's partnership with one of its fastest-growing retail channels by providing detailed shopper and category insights within the Beauty & Wellbeing and Personal Care segments. This position focuses on analyzing Amazon shopper behavior, category trends, and data to inform and guide Amazon-specific business strategies and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze shopper behaviors, path-to-purchase patterns, and category results on Amazon in Beauty & Wellbeing and Personal Care segments to extract actionable insights.
- Utilize a variety of data sources including Amazon-specific platforms, national syndicated data, and internal records to spot patterns, market gaps, and growth opportunities relevant to the Amazon ecosystem.
- Assist in developing and carrying out both qualitative and quantitative research to address important shopper, category, and portfolio questions such as understanding shopper needs, decision factors, browsing behaviors, and obstacles.
- Translate business queries into suitable research methodologies by collaborating with internal stakeholders or external agencies to apply the optimum research techniques.
- Integrate findings from numerous data inputs like POS data, panel statistics, survey results, qualitative research, and secondary studies to form a unified, insight-driven perspective.
- Convert complex data and research observations into clear, concise narratives and category growth stories linking shopper requirements, category dynamics, and commercial opportunities.
- Keep track of competitor activity, product innovation, and assortment changes across Amazon Beauty categories to support both immediate and strategic planning.
- Identify emerging shopper trends on Amazon through data analysis, research, and marketplace monitoring to aid portfolio strategy and anticipate future developments.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Amazon’s retail environment including search algorithms, product assortment, taxonomy, and key metrics affecting traffic and conversion.
- Work closely with Amazon Commercial Development, Shopper Marketing, Content, Media, Customer Sales & Planning, Data & Analytics, and Consumer Market Insights teams to incorporate insights into strategic plans and customer engagements.
- Create compelling insight deliverables such as presentations, summaries, and points of view that guide internal and selected external business decision making.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3 to 6 years experience in consumer or shopper insights, category management, analytics, eCommerce, or related consumer packaged goods and retail roles.
- Proficient in handling syndicated POS and shopper data sources (for example, Circana, Numerator) to develop actionable insights.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to Amazon-specific analytic tools such as Stackline, Vendor Central, and internal platforms.
- Strong foundation in quantitative and qualitative research processes, including defining objectives, selecting appropriate methods, and translating results into practical insights.
- Experience managing or supporting custom research like surveys, consumer focus groups, or ad-hoc studies independently or with agencies.
- Skilled at synthesizing information from diverse data sources into coherent, forward-thinking business recommendations.
- Exceptional storytelling and presentation abilities, with a track record of communicating insights to senior leadership and external partners.
- Capable of identifying strategic opportunities by linking cultural, socioeconomic, and industry trends.
Preferred Experience
- Background in supporting category strategies, shopper insights, or customer-facing recommendations.
- Experience presenting to customers or retailers and participating in strategy discussions.
- Familiarity or strong interest in eCommerce and the Amazon ecosystem, including search functionalities, product assortment, and key performance drivers.
Compensation and Benefits
This role offers an annual salary range from $88,600 to $133,000. Compensation decisions consider a variety of factors such as skills, experience, certifications, education, and business requirements. The position is eligible for bonuses.
