Job description

Role overview

Goldman Sachs Family Office is hiring an Associate to partner with Private Wealth Advisors in delivering family office services to clients and supporting business development efforts. The role suits someone who is driven, client-focused, and experienced in wealth management or family office services.

About the business

Within Wealth Management, Goldman Sachs supports clients globally with financial planning, investment management, banking, and tailored advice for ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth individuals, as well as family offices, foundations, endowments, corporations, and employees. The business is powered by a strong focus on clients, people, and advanced technology, data, and design.

Private Wealth Management builds customized wealth plans for high-net-worth individuals, families, and selected institutions. Teams work closely with clients to deliver strategies based on Goldman Sachs' investment capabilities and global platform, including tax and estate planning, philanthropic support, private banking, and lending services. Goldman Sachs Family Office works alongside Private Wealth Advisors to provide a broad range of wealth planning and family office solutions.

What you will do

  • Act as the main contact for a designated group of West Coast clients, handling non-investment needs with professionalism from onboarding through ongoing service.
  • Support client requests across reporting, planning, household matters, and administrative coordination.
  • Spot opportunities to introduce new family office services and solutions that better meet client needs.
  • Build trusted client relationships through clear communication, proactive follow-up, and effective service management.
  • Respond to client questions and issues quickly, working with internal teams and outside partners when needed.
  • Work with PWM teams across the full client journey, including marketing, needs assessment, onboarding, and ongoing service delivery.
  • Develop strong expertise in a wide mix of offerings such as consolidated reporting, alternatives administration, estate flow mapping, cyber and physical security, domestic staff recruitment, travel, medical advisory, and related services.
  • Coordinate with external professionals such as accountants, attorneys, personal assistants, and property managers to ensure a smooth client experience.
  • Help connect Private Wealth Advisor teams, wealth strategists, family office colleagues, clients, and third-party legal and tax advisors so deliverables are completed on time.
  • Maintain a client-first approach while ensuring service quality remains consistently high.
  • Collaborate with PWA teams to design and deliver the most appropriate solution for each client.
  • Represent Family Office in discussions with prospective clients and explain the range of offerings, from individual services and philanthropy support to family governance and full private family office solutions.
  • Track the West Coast market, competitive trends, and the changing needs of ultra-high-net-worth families to identify service gaps and new opportunities.
  • Support quality control, deadlines, and performance targets.
  • Coordinate with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and third-party vendors to keep improving the offering.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and productive team culture.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant client-facing experience, ideally in family office, wealth management, or other work with high-net-worth families.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels and help exceed client expectations.
  • Working knowledge of financial and performance reporting in a wealth management setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in team-based work.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • High attention to detail and sound logical thinking.
  • A strong sense of ownership and follow-through, with a willingness to go beyond expectations to deliver on time and at a high standard.
  • Commitment to quality and integrity.
  • Self-driven, able to balance strong output with tight deadlines.
  • Genuine interest in financial markets along with good commercial judgment.
  • Resourceful, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable performing in a fast-moving environment and staying clear-headed under pressure.
  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, and Series 63 exams must be completed within the first 3 months of employment.
