Position Overview

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for the role of Associate Director, Employer Relations at the Career Development Center (CDC). Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Director of CDC, this fixed-term position spans three years and emphasizes building and enhancing employer partnerships that facilitate student internships and employment opportunities. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive employer outreach strategy targeting job and internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, focusing primarily on the UAE and regional markets.
  • Lead a team of three full-time employees, including two focused on employer relations, to execute outreach plans effectively.
  • Manage all employer-related campus events such as career fairs, networking events, and specialized programs.
  • Oversee the employer interface management through Handshake, the shared career management platform linking NYU campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai.
  • Maintain detailed reporting of employer relationships to ensure continuity and growth of partnerships.
  • Create talent pipelines and boost awareness of NYUAD’s student talent both locally and internationally.
  • Continuously adjust outreach efforts based on industry trends, student feedback, and interests.
  • Engage directly with employers at all recruitment stages, including interviews and information sessions, ensuring recruitment conforms to NYUAD CDC policies, UAE Labor Law, and government regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal university departments like Equal Opportunity, General Counsel, and Compliance to support institutional partnerships.
  • Assess internship quality via surveys and use collected data to inform CDC strategies.
  • Develop micro-experience programs to widen employer engagement opportunities for students.
  • Oversee and regulate the on-campus student employment program within the larger framework of postgraduate and off-campus work, aligning policies with university goals and equitable hiring practices.
  • Troubleshoot internal hiring systems collaborating with stakeholders when necessary.
  • Provide career coaching to a diverse student body from over 120 countries, offering guidance on job searching, visa regulations, interview strategies, CV and cover letter preparation, and networking.
  • Support and curate programming for industry-specific career communities, fostering alumni connections and skills development.
  • Enforce student professional conduct policies in cooperation with the student affairs team.
  • Design and present career education workshops addressing job market trends, negotiation techniques, and recruitment strategies.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and manage performance for the employer relations team to ensure alignment with CDC objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support CDC and university missions.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs, Human Resources, Counseling, or a closely related field.
  • At least five years of progressive leadership experience in areas such as career development, employer relations, student affairs, recruitment, or business development.
  • Proven success in cultivating relationships with local and international employers across various industries to enhance student employment and mentorship opportunities.
  • Experience collaborating across multi-stakeholder organizations.
  • Expertise in advising and coaching students individually and in groups on recruitment and job search strategies.
  • Skilled in assessing student needs and creating tailored job-seeking plans.
  • Advanced proficiency with contact management software, preferably Handshake.
  • Experience managing professional staff including hiring, evaluations, and professional development.
  • Knowledgeable about career and internship resources and self-assessment tools.
  • Strong ability to rapidly identify student career needs and provide effective guidance.
  • Competency in reviewing and critiquing CVs and cover letters efficiently.
  • Up-to-date understanding of national and global employment and graduate education trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse interactions.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to generate positive student outcomes.
