Position Overview
New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of Assistant Director of Admissions, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Admissions. This position is integral in advancing NYUAD's recruitment and enrollment of a diverse, talented undergraduate student body.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute targeted recruitment strategies to attract and enroll a varied and qualified group of undergraduate applicants.
- Represent NYUAD at various recruitment platforms such as college fairs, secondary schools, and community events both locally within the UAE and internationally, along with hosting informative sessions and events tailored to specific audiences.
- Establish and maintain relationships with prospective students, families, and school counselors to promote NYUAD's academic offerings.
- Guide applicants throughout the application journey, including support after admission offers.
- Organize outreach initiatives and programs aimed at increasing applicant matriculation and manage sensitive communications regarding admission decisions.
- Participate actively in the evaluation of undergraduate applications, ensuring alignment with NYUAD's mission and standards.
- Assist in follow-ups for incomplete application materials during different stages of the admission cycle.
- Coordinate and support on-campus programs including school visits, workshops, campus tours, and assist visitors with information about admissions and university life.
- Respond promptly to student inquiries via multiple communication channels and engage in planning and implementing key admission events and initiatives.
- Attend admissions-related training, strategic planning sessions, and assist in onboarding and professional development within the admissions department.
- Collaborate with other campus offices on community events and initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in liberal arts or a related field such as education or counseling.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel internationally.
- At least 2 years of experience in university admissions for US liberal arts style programs, with familiarity in secondary education, university advising, or international education systems.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse student groups and demonstrated supervisory or mentoring experience.
- Strong skills in organization, analysis, and project management.
- Excellent English communication and presentation capabilities.
- Interpersonal skills adept at engaging diverse cultural and national backgrounds.
- Skilled at handling difficult conversations with diplomacy, reflecting NYUAD’s core institutional values.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Slate, data tools, and common office software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree and/or a bachelor's degree from a selective university with coursework related to education, communication, international relations, or counseling.
- Proficiency in Arabic communication, both oral and written.
- Experience within NYU Abu Dhabi’s admissions office or direct experience with international secondary education systems.
- Expertise in using Slate and data visualization tools.
- Understanding of financial aid and its influence on recruitment and enrollment processes.
