Role Overview

The Assistant Store Manager at Platypus Shoes Northlands will partner closely with the Store Manager to lead a team of enthusiastic casual employees. This role emphasizes boosting sales and key performance indicators (KPIs), coaching staff, and elevating customer service levels. You will foster a dynamic store environment and advance your leadership skills within a vibrant retail setting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in meeting sales goals, KPIs, and maintaining appealing merchandise displays.
  • Encourage and motivate the team to excel in sales and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Review and analyze sales data daily, weekly, and monthly to recognize achievements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage staff scheduling and control wage expenses aligning with company objectives.
  • Coach and support team members to enhance morale, provide ongoing training, and prepare for future leadership roles.
  • Oversee inventory levels, store appearance, loss prevention, and operational standards.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety policies and all applicable regional laws.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in senior casual roles, key holding, third-in-charge, or supervisory positions within high-traffic retail stores.
  • Demonstrated leadership with a track record of meeting sales targets and KPIs.
  • A proactive "Make it Happen" approach and hands-on leadership style.
  • Effective communication and a passion for mentoring team members.
  • Knowledge in stock control and visual merchandising techniques.
  • A genuine passion for delivering superior customer service and working with quality products.
