Job description

Overview

Become an integral part of the team at Bunnings, experiencing the company from an operational perspective. As an Assistant Site Manager, you will oversee daily store functions, ensuring smooth operations across sales and stock management in a high-volume environment. Leading a workforce of over 180 members, you will coordinate with Department Managers, Supervisors, and support teams to maintain exceptional customer service and efficient sales processes. This role reports directly to the Site Manager and involves collaboration with local stores, Trade, and Distribution Centres to drive area-wide success.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of more than 50 direct reports, fostering a safe and engaging workplace while also covering duty manager tasks such as opening and closing the store on weekdays and weekends.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, promoting open discussion about risks and encouraging safe work practices across the warehouse.
  • Track departmental performance metrics including sales, margins, and labor costs, then develop and apply improvement strategies where necessary.
  • Spot opportunities to increase sales through merchandising and strategic initiatives; provide coaching and feedback to Department Managers to support their growth.
  • Ensure stock accuracy by managing routine processes, overseeing adjustments, leading discrepancy investigations, and directing stocktake activities effectively.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and team engagement metrics to promote accountability and achieve positive outcomes.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a motivated leader with proven capabilities in managing teams, prioritizing safety and wellbeing, and handling specialist product areas. You should be adaptable, able to manage multiple stakeholders, understand key performance indicators, and exceed customer expectations.

Additional Information

This position requires working a minimum of one weekend out of every three and includes some public holiday shifts.
