Job description

Position Overview

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a full-time Band 5 Assistant Psychologist with a specific interest in neuropsychology. The role is stationed at Chalfont campus, Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, joining the Neuropsychology Department team affiliated with the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London.

Key Duties

The assistant psychologist will support the neuropsychology service catering to inpatients and outpatients affected by epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Primary responsibilities include assisting in administering and scoring neuropsychological and behavioral assessments, maintaining accurate records and databases, and participating in individual and group therapeutic interventions addressing cognitive impairments, anxiety management, and functional neurological disorders.

Qualifications and Skills

The successful candidate must hold a psychology degree recognized by the British Psychological Society as fulfilling the graduate basis for clinical training. Strong IT skills and effective communication abilities are required, alongside the capability to collaborate well within a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should demonstrate mature, sensitive interpersonal skills and have a foundational understanding of epilepsy and disability topics, given the complexity and potential challenges presented by service users.
