Global Business Services Overview

Global Business Services (GBS) provides technology and operational support to various business lines and functions of Bank of America using a globally integrated delivery model. Known for excellence in execution, risk management, innovation and resiliency, GBS operates in multiple locations in India under BA Continuum India Private Limited (BACI).

Role Context

The Global Banking and Markets (GBAM) division serves institutional, corporate and commercial clients globally with sales, trading, investment banking and research services. The GBAM Operations Tax & Control team manages tax-related processes ensuring compliance with tax regulations across jurisdictions, minimizing financial risks and maintaining client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute tax outreach activities as part of standard business operations.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts for knowledge transfer, process documentation, and developing controls to sustain smooth workflows.
  • Assist with system conversion testing and validation as needed.
  • Generate and disseminate management information system (MIS) reports highlighting exceptions and risks, and proactively suggest process improvements.
  • Identify operational gaps and propose control mechanisms such as procedural refinements and governance procedures to optimize processes.
  • Ensure readiness for audits by keeping standard operating procedures (SOPs) and governance documents current with any technology or process changes.
  • Develop and refine quality audit methodologies, rebuttal and training/on-the-job training (OJT) procedures to improve quality and new hire integration.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with leadership regarding upcoming technological changes, deployment plans, impact assessments, and lessons learned.
  • Serve as a project coordinator for operational excellence initiatives, liaising across teams to drive progress and provide regular updates.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in finance.
  • Around 15 years of experience in operational delivery, preferably in US or international tax operations.
  • Familiarity with tax form solicitation and documentation processes, including W8, W9, FATCA, and CRS forms.
  • Expertise in reviewing reference data changes impacting tax documentation and validating documents per regulations.
  • Experience in withholding tax calculations, remittance, and tax reporting (including 1099 and 1042-S forms).
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on compliance to policies and procedural adherence.
  • Ability to understand end-to-end front-to-back workflows, including full product and transaction life cycles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management across regions, functions, and business lines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Capable of working individually and collaboratively within teams.
  • Skill in mentoring team members with required domain expertise.

Additional Skills

  • Project management proficiency.
  • Experience in creating dashboards using Tableau.

Working Hours and Location

The position requires flexibility to work within a 24/7 operational model. The job location is Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
