Job description
Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Inpatient Operations, this role (Senior Executive, Assistant Manager, or Senior Assistant Manager) assists in overseeing clinical and patient services within the hospital. Responsibilities extend to managing ward infrastructure and leading improvement projects aimed at enhancing hospital facilities. The position focuses on enhancing customer service, streamlining operational processes, and efficient resource management.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the formulation of Alexandra Hospital's strategic plans, ensuring alignment of vision and business objectives within the Operations team through tactical planning and measurable targets linked to quality benchmarks.
- Engage in transformation initiatives related to hospital design and support services under the Alexandra Campus Redevelopment program.
- Manage day-to-day functions of designated inpatient wards, including reception operations, administrative tasks, and collaboration with nursing and stakeholders to resolve systemic and procedural challenges.
- Analyze and improve key operational metrics focusing on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and optimized use of resources.
- Monitor and provide recommendations to enhance customer experience ratings.
- Work collaboratively on ward infrastructure and building improvement projects to ensure minimal disruption, accurate user specifications, compliance with standards such as infection control, and timely, budget-adherent completion.
- Track and recommend actions related to financial, manpower, and training budgets during annual planning processes.
- Participate in interdepartmental projects, committees, and workgroups aimed at conflict resolution, initiative implementation, and achieving intended results.
- Engage actively in quality improvement, IT, and NUHS Way projects to promote safer, more efficient care delivery.
- Manage customer complaints with appropriate service recovery measures.
- Regularly update policies and procedures relevant to assigned areas.
- Support hospital committees linked to responsibility areas and fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements
- A degree in any discipline is required.
- Healthcare experience is considered a plus.
- At least two years of relevant work experience for Assistant Manager or higher roles.
- Strong skills in analysis, organization, coordination, and communication (both verbal and written).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience and skills in project management.
- Practical understanding of hospital operations is preferred.
- Positive mindset with proactive motivation and a can-do attitude.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Service-oriented and customer-focused approach.
