Job description
Overview
The Food and Beverage Assistant plays a key role in supporting the operational activities of the department by combining administrative functions, operational tasks, and customer service to ensure seamless daily operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer and manage diet control and patient meal concerns efficiently.
- Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries and feedback, document messages, and coordinate follow-ups with relevant teams.
- Collect, update, and prepare meal-related data essential for kitchen production summaries.
- Use the electronic meal ordering system to generate daily meal summaries and distribute them to kitchen sections for preparation stages including cooking and tray assembly.
- Create patients' meal chits via the electronic system and deliver them to the kitchen for meal compilation.
- Maintain and record a daily log of events and complaints along with resolutions taken.
- Support the kitchen staff during meal assembly to ensure accurate meal loading and plating.
- Regularly monitor and track operational key performance indicators and other relevant metrics.
- Compile operations reports and report any anomalies or discrepancies to the Reporting Officer.
- Coordinate with Dietitians, Speech Therapists, and Nursing staff regarding patient meal requirements.
- Manage requisitioning, control, and effective use of office supplies within the department.
- Order, receive, issue, and conduct inventory stock checks for assigned items.
- Ensure proper storage of all stock items according to set guidelines.
- Maintain and update inventory management records regularly.
- Organize and distribute goods from stores to respective departments as necessary.
- Prepare and document minutes for meetings.
- Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the Reporting Officer.
Requirements
- Preferably hold a Diploma in Food Science, Food Nutrition, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience is desirable.
- Possess excellent communication skills, interpersonal abilities, and proper phone etiquette.
- Proficient in IT, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Hardworking, self-driven, and capable of thriving in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Physically fit to handle manual tasks including carrying heavy objects.
- Willing to work five days a week with shift duties covering weekends and public holidays.
