Role Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Manager at the Social Care Worker grade responsible for managing residential services in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, specifically in Service Area 5. This permanent role entails 35 hours per week, focusing on supporting individuals to live fulfilling lives through personalized care and community engagement. The position involves operational oversight including staff roster management and fostering staff capacity to implement support plans. The Assistant Manager will work closely with individuals, their families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop support networks and ensure quality service.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations and staff scheduling to maintain smooth service delivery.
- Support individuals in their homes and community activities, promoting active lifestyles and family involvement.
- Develop and enhance staff capabilities to meet the needs of supported individuals.
- Build and sustain circles of support around service users.
- Engage in service management in compliance with HIQA standards.
- Contribute actively to local service planning and development responsive to changing needs.
- Provide personal care and practical assistance as necessary.
- Ensure a respectful, safe workplace adhering to organizational policies and health and safety standards.
- Utilize proactive strategies to support individuals with challenging behaviours in a manner consistent with best practices.
Candidate Requirements
- Hold CORU registration as a Social Care Worker or possess a recognized qualification eligible for CORU registration.
- Provide confirmation of ongoing CORU registration application if not yet registered.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting individual growth and meaningful life changes.
- Experience in person- and family-centered care methods and autism-informed practices.
- Deep understanding of equality, inclusion, and quality of life principles.
- Excellent listening, advocacy, communication, and collaborative teamwork abilities.
- Creativity, innovation, and motivation in service delivery and problem solving.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of service development and quality improvement processes.
- Strong self-management and time management skills.
- Familiarity with budget management and financial responsibility in a care setting.
- Preferred understanding of HIQA standards and regulations.
- Flexibility to meet changing service demands.
- Good command of IT systems and applications preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Possession of a full driver's license is compulsory.
- Successful Garda vetting and reference verifications required.
- Non-EU applicants must submit valid work authorization documentation with their application.
- Applicants with extensive residence outside Ireland or Northern Ireland must provide overseas police clearance.
Salary and Benefits
Salary is based on the Social Care Worker pay scale ranging from €36,381 to €54,744 annually for a 39-hour workweek, pro-rated to 35 hours.
