Job Overview

We have opportunities at Seaview Residential Service in Newport, Co. Mayo, for Social Care Assistants seeking permanent employment. Positions are available for 24 hours per week plus sleep-in duties and 10 hours per week plus sleep-in duties. The roles focus on supporting individuals in living meaningful, fulfilling lives, promoting independence, equality, and respect through collaboration with individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with personal care and practical support tailored to their needs.
  • Advocate for individuals’ preferences, rights, and aspirations to foster well-being.
  • Contribute meaningfully to local service planning and creative development responsive to evolving needs.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful workplace in alignment with organizational dignity, health, and safety policies.
  • Support individuals presenting challenging behaviours using positive, proactive approaches consistent with best practice and policies.

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to enabling positive opportunities and meaningful change for individuals.
  • Experience working in a person- and family-centered approach, understanding equality and inclusion.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with creativity in service delivery.
  • Previous experience supporting people with complex needs and involvement in leadership or quality improvement is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, with awareness of budgetary and financial accountability.
  • Knowledge of New Directions standards is required; HIQA standards knowledge is preferred.
  • Flexibility to meet service demands and good IT skills are advantageous.
  • Full driver’s license is mandatory.

Additional Information

  • Applicants from outside the EU must include valid work authorization with their application.
  • Those residing outside Ireland or Northern Ireland for over six months since age 16 will need to provide police clearance certificates.
  • Applicants will undergo Garda Vetting and reference checks.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range from €32,542 to €45,161 for full-time roles (39 hours/week), equating to hourly rates between €15.99 and €22.19.
