About the Team

This role is for a seasoned communications professional who can operate with a mix of strategic judgment and practical delivery. As an individual contributor, you will be trusted to manage complex, high-impact communications work with substantial independence. The position involves shaping regional narratives, working closely with senior leaders, and handling sophisticated media relations across multiple markets.

You will collaborate with communications leads in different countries and functions, while also partnering with senior business stakeholders to support Shopee’s corporate reputation and messaging.

What You Will Do

Drive regional corporate communications programs that support business priorities and reinforce the brand across markets.

Monitor emerging reputational concerns and recommend proactive responses that protect and enhance the company’s standing.

Contribute to crisis and issues communications, including preparing scenarios, developing materials, and helping execute responses.

Plan and deliver regional communications initiatives end-to-end, ensuring all outputs are accurate, consistent, and aligned with the company’s values and positioning.

Prepare key communications assets such as press releases, core messaging, and FAQ documents.

Shape thought leadership efforts by identifying the right narratives, themes, and platforms to strengthen credibility and visibility.

Create and oversee high-quality long-form content, including op-eds and bylines, that reinforces the company’s voice.

Support executive communications by developing speeches, talking points, and other materials for senior leadership moments.

Handle sensitive media engagement, including proactive story development and issue management that call for strong judgment and established journalist relationships.

Set the direction for media relations activities and help secure strong, favorable coverage across the region.

Guide market communications teams with strategic advice, detailed review, and practical support to raise the overall quality of output.

Build communications capability across markets through coaching, structured feedback, and training that improves standards across the region.

What We’re Looking For

A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline.

10 or more years of professional experience in corporate communications or public relations, either in-house or at an agency.

Prior exposure to the Southeast Asia media environment and regional communications landscape will be helpful.

Established relationships with regional and local media across Southeast Asia are considered an advantage.

Proven ability to design and deliver corporate communications strategies with strong instincts for narrative, positioning, and reputation management.

Demonstrated experience in media relations, especially in handling complex and sensitive situations with sound judgment and confidence.

Excellent writing skills, with a track record of producing press releases, thought leadership content, and executive communications.

Comfort working with senior stakeholders and influencing them in a fast-moving environment.

Ability to work autonomously and own demanding workstreams with minimal supervision.

Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity to build trust, influence others, and collaborate across markets and functions without direct authority.
