Job description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and optimized weather-based routing for all vessels, continuously adapting routes according to updated schedules, ocean currents, and weather conditions.
- Coordinate closely with global and regional operations teams to adjust schedules efficiently during adverse weather situations.
- Oversee collaborations with third-party weather routing providers, maintaining alignment and consistency between vendor services and vessel operational demands.
- Lead initiatives for operational improvements by exploring, recommending, and applying new technologies and industry best practices aimed at enhancing vessel routing and internal processes.
- Track vessel performance metrics actively and take prompt measures to reduce operational costs.
- Potentially extend responsibilities to include marine assistance and support for daily operations in stowage planning and vessel micromanagement as necessary.
- Handle other ad hoc duties as assigned to support departmental goals.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, or related disciplines.
- Accumulate 4 to 5 years of relevant experience within the maritime sector, whether onboard vessels or in shore-based roles.
- Preference given to candidates with experience in weather routing or marine-related functions.
- Background sailing experience or previous involvement in vessel routing from a fleet center is highly beneficial.
- Exhibit strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills to effectively handle complex operational challenges.
- Demonstrate excellent time management, multitasking proficiency, and ability to perform under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Capable of collaborating within multicultural teams and adaptable to a dynamic workplace environment.
- Proficient in AI technologies and Google Workspace software tools.
