Role Overview
This position is responsible for strategizing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) programs specifically tailored for logistics and warehouse operations, cultivating a proactive safety culture across all operational levels.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and implement extensive safety initiatives addressing Project Safety, transportation (Road, Rail), Warehouse Safety, Fire and Life Safety, Chemical Safety, Logistics Safety, Hazardous Materials handling, Hygiene, Injury Prevention, Environmental compliance, Emergency response, Risk management, and Loss control.
- Lead safety awareness campaigns for both employees and contract workers to maintain high awareness levels.
- Coordinate and manage high-risk operations such as working at heights, ensuring structural stability, executing lifting plans, and heavy vehicle operations.
- Thoroughly investigate all types of safety incidents, near misses, and fatalities, analyze root causes, and facilitate corrective and preventive measures in partnership with relevant departments.
- Head emergency response teams, managing preparedness through drills and spill response exercises.
- Maintain strict adherence to all applicable state and central HSE legal requirements and align operations with corporate and industry safety standards.
- Proactively identify and mitigate hazards linked to logistics and warehouse functions, occupational health risks, and property damage using recognized prevention techniques.
- Supervise safety management for Operations, Projects, Maintenance, and Fire Services teams, ensuring continuous competency building through training and skill development for both staff and contractors.
Key Collaborations
- Work closely with internal teams including Site Operations, Projects, and Group Safety departments.
- Liaise with external bodies such as Pollution Control Departments, local government agencies, and external vendors or service providers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech) – mandatory.
- Bring at least six years of focused experience in Health & Safety management, preferably within agriculture logistics and warehouse operational environments.
