Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager for Intra Asia will collaborate with the Head of Intra Asia to enhance both commercial and operational outcomes within the designated trade. This role plays a critical part in meeting targets related to volume, revenue, profitability, and vessel utilization. It involves managing trade operations, expanding key customer accounts, executing business development strategies, managing forecasts, overseeing profit and loss statements, and fostering relationships among headquarters, regional offices, country teams, partners, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed the approved COC volume and revenue budget targets.
  • Drive continual growth in volume and revenue from Key Account Management customers annually.
  • Establish and maintain robust engagements with key customers including Procurement Heads, General Managers, and Owners' Representatives.
  • Undertake quarterly business visits to major locations for performance evaluation, client relationship strengthening, and spotting new business opportunities.
  • Lead business development efforts by partnering with headquarters and international offices to target under-penetrated markets to boost market share, volumes, and capacity usage.
  • Optimize the use of vessel capacity and related operational resources.
  • Encourage cooperation and synergy between PIL, MELL, and MSCorp brands to improve service quality and maximize profitability.
  • Manage monthly forecasting and business projection activities for the trade and portfolio of customers assigned.
  • Supervise daily trade operations including vessel scheduling, cargo handling, and asset optimization to ensure smooth workflows.
  • Implement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and elevate service performance.
  • Analyze monthly profit and loss statements for assigned services and devise strategies and action plans to address underperformance.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience within the liner shipping sector.
  • Demonstrated success in commercial management, trade operations, and business development within the shipping industry.
  • Strong expertise in managing major customer accounts, trade operations, and regional stakeholder engagement.
  • Deep knowledge of Intra-Asia trade routes, market behavior, and shipping logistics.
