About the Role
Under the guidance of the Chief Talent Officer, the Assistant Director of Human Resources leads the HR department to ensure consistent delivery of services, clear and efficient workflows, and effective assistance to both schools and district management within Aspen Peaks School District. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and HR Operations functions, while managing complex employee relations issues, promoting consistency, and facilitating internal department coordination.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily HR operations across the HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and HR Operations teams.
- Guarantee the uniform application of HR procedures, service standards, and workflow execution throughout the district.
- Monitor and adjust workloads among staff to optimize support availability.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and direction to HR staff and managers.
- Ensure the HR function operates cohesively according to defined roles and service designs.
- Lead or assist with escalated employee relations cases, particularly those involving senior leaders above principal or department head level.
- Maintain consistency in handling disciplinary actions, investigations, and separations.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners regarding high-risk or sensitive employee matters.
- Support escalation reviews in situations involving legal, political, or reputational sensitivity.
- Facilitate effective coordination among HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and HR Operations to prevent workflow breakdowns or ownership confusion.
- Align HR department activities with legal, risk management, and Title IX compliance requirements.
- Identify and improve operational efficiencies, systems, and service delivery practices.
- Support the implementation of HR technologies, tools, and process improvements.
- Maintain visibility on operational challenges and proactively address bottlenecks.
- Provide guidance and assistance to school principals, supervisors, and district leadership.
- Assist the Chief Talent Officer in executing strategic HR initiatives.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex HR matters requiring senior leadership involvement.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, Human Resources, or related field is mandatory.
- Experience working within a school district setting is preferred.
- Strong judgment, decision-making abilities, and capacity to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
- Clear communication abilities paired with practical problem-solving skills.
- Capability to balance consistent HR practices with necessary flexibility.
- Required to clear a criminal background check and fingerprinting process.
Working Conditions
- This role involves primarily sedentary work within an office environment, with frequent sitting, talking, and hearing.
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and the capacity to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Travel to multiple school locations and district offices as necessary.
- Mental demands include managing complex and sensitive personnel matters, maintaining emotional composure under stress, and upholding strict confidentiality.
Additional Information
- The position follows a contract of 242 working days with 24 days of vacation annually.
- Salary range is $122,790 to $181,819 per year, dependent upon experience.
- Start date is July 1, 2027, with application deadline on August 2, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
