Job description

Position Overview

Starting July 1, 2027, this role reports to the Assistant Superintendent of People, Culture, and Talent, providing leadership to the Human Resources Department. The Director ensures consistent service quality, effective workflow execution, and robust support to both schools and district leadership.

Primary Duties

  • Supervise daily HR department operations, guaranteeing uniform application of processes, workload balance, and team coaching.
  • Manage complex and high-level employee relations issues, including those involving senior leaders and sensitive, high-risk situations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional HR tasks, resolving workflow gaps and aligning efforts with legal, risk management, and Title IX compliance requirements.
  • Drive operational excellence by monitoring workflows for efficiency, introducing improvements, and ensuring clarity in roles and processes within HR.
  • Support district leadership and principals by providing HR guidance and acting as an escalation point when additional leadership involvement is necessary.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Determine when to escalate matters or maintain department ownership.
  • Guide handling of complex employee relations cases and internal workflow distribution adjustments.

Scope and Supervision

  • Directly oversee the Assistant HR Director and other HR staff.
  • Manage HR services impacting over 3000 employees, supporting district-wide consistency.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, Legal studies, or a related HR field is required.
  • Prior experience in a school district setting is preferred.
  • Must clear fingerprinting and background checks.

  • Must maintain emotional control under stress and manage confidential legal and personnel issues.

Contract and Salary

  • Contract length: 242 workdays with 24 vacation days.
  • Salary range: $122,790 to $181,819 annually, dependent on experience.
