Job Overview
This role entails leading and developing comprehensive nutrition programs tailored for over 350 student-athletes, focusing on the enhancement of athletic performance and overall health. The incumbent will ensure the nutrition department prioritizes the student-athlete experience with integrity and excellence.
Main Responsibilities
- Create, direct, and oversee nutrition initiatives designed to optimize both the health and sports performance of all student-athletes.
- Deploy strategic nutritional plans aimed at boosting athletic output, minimizing fatigue and injury risks, and fostering sustained healthy eating habits among athletes.
- Partner with mental health professionals to deliver psychoeducational resources for athletes and coaching staff.
- Conduct personalized sessions including feedback, evaluations, and thorough nutrition assessments at individual and team levels.
- Maintain all necessary professional certifications to comply with standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Integrated Healthcare Team to promote a holistic approach for an enriched student-athlete experience.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of dietary plans, progress reports, and assessment documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Offer brief counseling interventions addressing various health and wellness concerns, provide appropriate resource referrals for sensitive issues.
- Assist in gathering and analyzing relevant tactical and statistical data to aid in developing effective plans and strategies.
- Identify and propose solutions to complex issues that may affect individual and team athletic performance.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Proven leadership capabilities with the aptitude to propose and implement effective change alongside engaging stakeholders.
- Expertise in eating disorders including the ability to conduct intervention strategies that reduce symptomology.
- Commitment to initiatives that improve athlete performance, retention, and long-term success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or a closely related discipline.
- Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and licensure as required by the state.
- Prior experience working within collegiate or professional sports environments.
Physical Demands
- Work classified as sedentary: occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, or pull objects; negligible effort required frequently or continuously.
