Job description

Role summary

This opportunity sits within Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management, a global investment platform overseeing more than $3 trillion in assets under supervision. The role is part of Fixed Income & Liquidity Solutions within Public Investing, where more than $1.7 trillion is managed for private wealth and institutional clients such as insurers, pension funds, and endowments.

The position is based in Singapore and supports the Emerging Market corporate credit research team, which manages more than US$45 billion in dedicated EM fixed income assets and has been investing in this space for over 20 years with a strong track record.

What the team does

The credit research group develops investment views, recommendations, and decisions across multiple accounts, contributing ideas to both emerging market and global fixed income portfolios. Its work is grounded in fundamental research and close collaboration among analysts, portfolio managers, and traders.

What you will do

You will work closely with portfolio managers and senior analysts to generate and support investment ideas across portfolios focused on Asian companies in both financial and non-financial sectors. The role calls for strong research discipline, excellent communication, and a team-oriented approach.

  • Conduct in-depth bottom-up credit and ESG analysis, including financial modelling, accounting review, covenant analysis, management assessment, third-party research review, and discussions with management teams and sell-side analysts.
  • Carry out ongoing coverage of companies and sectors in Asian credit and share timely updates with colleagues across global teams in both verbal and written form.
  • Build, maintain, and improve financial models and other research tools that support investment recommendations and decisions.
  • Work with economists on Emerging Markets to evaluate economic and political risks affecting companies under coverage.
  • Partner with Global Corporate Credit teams to identify relative value opportunities and exchange investment ideas.
  • Develop and recommend investment ideas for portfolios with different risk limits and restrictions, while clearly defending those ideas in writing and presentations.
  • Take part in ad hoc research, thematic studies, and analytical projects.

What the role requires

The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in finance, accounting, and modelling, along with curiosity about investing and the ability to think critically. Prior experience in credit, equity, banking, accounting, or a related analytical field is preferred.

  • Pre-MBA or post-MBA candidate with relevant experience in the financial sector.
  • Background in investing, credit analysis, equity research, or related work such as accounting, banking, or financial modelling is strongly preferred.
  • Good understanding of accounting and finance, with the ability to interpret financial statements accurately.
  • Strong financial modelling ability and solid quantitative grounding.
  • Experience with data science, computer science, or AI tools is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-driven, resourceful, and genuinely interested in investing and research.
  • CFA study at any level is considered a plus.
