Appointments Clerk - Medical Imaging

Job Summary

The Appointments Clerk in Medical Imaging is responsible for managing patient scheduling, coordinating communication, and performing various clerical tasks within medical imaging departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrange appointments and schedule patients for diverse medical imaging procedures and examinations.
• Handle telephone communications and reception duties at main public and workroom sites.
• Welcome, guide, and assist patients, their families, visitors, and hospital staff efficiently and courteously.
• Collect essential patient demographic information and billing details, including OHN or third-party data, as necessary.
• Collaborate with scheduling contacts, nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel to retrieve missing information and resolve scheduling issues.
• Assist designated staff in expediting verbal or urgent (Stat) requests promptly.
• Perform filing, sorting, and faxing of reports as needed.
• Input data accurately into applicable information systems as required.
• Complete other clerical duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma (OSSGD) or recognized equivalent.
• Post-secondary education related to the job and recent relevant experience are preferred.
• Knowledge of medical implications linked to scheduling diagnostic procedures and exams.
• Typing speed of 40 net words per minute with a maximum error rate of 5%, or keyboarding at 106 net keystrokes per minute.
• Familiarity with medical and radiology terminology is advantageous.
• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• High degree of adaptability combined with outstanding customer service focus.
