About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Investigator to join our team on a remote contract basis. This position is focused on brokerage AML investigations, with an initial training period of four weeks requiring full attendance. The contract duration is for 4+ months, with potential extension based on performance and business needs. Compensation ranges between $45 and $47 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure case completeness and accuracy by conducting independent research and reviewing all supporting documentation, confirming that narratives address every risk factor, and that final dispositions are transparent for internal and external audit purposes.
- Provide consistent and constructive qualitative feedback to Investigators with strict adherence to QA protocols, and collaborate with Team Leads to clarify any exception findings to facilitate necessary corrections.
- Exercise sound judgment evaluating Investigator case narratives and documentation, measuring compliance against QA Core Competencies, analyzing transactional activity, and identifying any possible red flags.
- Verify that Investigators have adequately addressed all issued exceptions while achieving QA production targets and maintaining high-quality investigative standards across collaboration with internal teams.
- Assess the appropriateness of case reviews and final dispositions, guided by deep knowledge of internal AML typologies related to correspondent banking and wealth management clients, while staying updated on pertinent laws, regulations, and policies to identify unusual activities effectively.
- Maintain professionalism, integrity, and accountability, contributing positively to a respectful and courteous workplace culture.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in AML within financial services.
- 3-5+ years conducting AML Transaction Monitoring investigations, preferably in retail banking, including drafting Suspicious Activity Reports and/or performing quality assurance reviews.
- Additional experience in broker-dealer transaction monitoring is advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in financial services, investigative work, or law enforcement fields.
- Advanced knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and other relevant legislation and regulations.
- Proven experience in performing AML investigations and drafting SAR narratives.
- Background in supervising others and providing effective feedback; experience in QA or oversight roles is desirable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent analytical, research, and decision-making capabilities.
