Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advice to Ministers on proposals with major economic and fiscal consequences.
- Collaborate extensively within Treasury and across multiple agencies to produce candid, useful policy advice.
- Develop and apply strong relationship management and strategic policy capabilities.
- Conduct thorough analyses and adopt solution-oriented approaches.

Working with a diverse group of experts, the Treasury addresses interconnected national challenges and provides guidance to Ministers, Crown entities, and Government decision-makers.
The Revenue and Economic Development team, within the Economic Performance division, delivers evidence-supported policy recommendations aimed at enhancing New Zealand’s microeconomic structures to foster growth. They focus on pivotal themes including taxation systems, regional economic development, industrial policies, and innovation initiatives.
Team and Role Details
There are two Analyst openings to contribute to forming, leading, and delivering the government's economic agenda.
Candidate Profile
- Strong analytical skills paired with critical thinking abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of simplifying complex topics in both writing and speech.
- A curious mindset open to varied perspectives.
- Capacity to collaborate effectively and craft practical solutions.
- A tertiary qualification is essential; experience or understanding of economic policy frameworks and public policy is advantageous, yet applicants from diverse backgrounds are welcomed.
