Role overview
This position sits within Goldman Sachs Alternatives and the Private Credit platform in London. The team works across the global alternatives business, investing in private credit and other alternative strategies for institutional and private clients. The broader platform spans private equity, growth equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds, and sustainability-focused investments, with solutions delivered through direct strategies, customized partnerships, and open-architecture programs.
The Private Credit business is a major alternative credit investing platform with professionals across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia. In Europe, the team is recognized as a leading direct lending franchise and is regularly engaged in some of the region’s largest transactions.
Analysts support small deal teams that evaluate, structure, execute, and monitor corporate debt investments. The role is highly transaction-oriented and covers a wide range of industries, capital structures, and deal types linked to leveraged buyouts, take-privates, add-on acquisitions, and recapitalizations, often involving private equity-backed businesses.
What the role involves
- Generating new investment ideas across the credit product set through early engagement with relevant counterparties such as financial sponsors and company leadership.
- Carrying out detailed due diligence and business analysis to sharpen and validate investment views.
- Supporting the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of investments.
- Presenting and defending investment recommendations to internal decision-makers and investment committees, including AMD and firmwide committees.
- Tracking and reviewing the performance of existing portfolio investments.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with sponsors, management teams, and internal stakeholders across Goldman Sachs.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will bring experience in investment banking or private credit/direct lending, along with strong quantitative, modeling, and analytical capabilities. The role also calls for intellectual curiosity, a genuine interest in credit and structured products, and the ability to form independent views across different industries and businesses.
