About the Opportunity
The Mid-Market Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Group is looking to hire an Analyst to join its Toronto team and support initiatives across Canada. This role involves assisting Associate Directors and Senior Directors in preparing presentations, research documents, proposals, financial models, and transaction paperwork. The Mid-Market M&A team plays a key role in offering value-added services such as handling the sale of privately owned companies and non-core divisions, acquisitions, management and shareholder buyouts, along with capital advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate as part of a nationwide Mid-Market M&A team, providing support to offices including Toronto and others across Canada.
- Conduct detailed industry and company research and produce clear, concise summaries.
- Assist in creating marketing materials for internal and external audiences.
- Help prepare and deliver marketing presentations to internal stakeholders and current or prospective clients.
- Develop comprehensive financial models to underpin analyses in proposals and transaction documentation.
- Coordinate with RBC partners from Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management as directed by senior team members.
Qualifications and Skills
- A bachelor's degree preferably focused on Business, Economics, Mathematics, or related quantitative disciplines.
- Experience in financial sectors such as investment banking, private equity, accounting, or commercial banking is preferred.
- Strong comprehension of financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Proficient computer skills, especially advanced capabilities in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Knowledge of financial modeling and valuation techniques such as discounted cash flow and leveraged buyout analysis.
- Ability to utilize research platforms like Capital IQ to gather business intelligence for development and transaction support.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to function effectively in a team environment and manage tight deadlines.
Additional desirable skills include:
- Prior involvement in capital markets transactions.
- Broad understanding of financial services and the capability to handle complex financial concepts.
- Interest and knowledge in financial markets.
