Role Overview
The Analyst, Investment Finance (G&A) plays a crucial role in managing daily and month-end accounting cycles for several management entities supporting OMERS Infrastructure investment teams. This role demands adaptability, multitasking under tight deadlines, and a continuous learning mindset to enhance financial reporting expertise, broaden business knowledge, and master full cycle accounting processes across domestic and international entities.
Work Environment
OMERS values time spent in the office and requires team members to work onsite at least 4 days a week to promote collaboration and strengthen relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing journal entries across various accounting cycles including sales/accounts receivable, expenses/accounts payable, accruals, intercompany chargebacks, prepaids, and capital assets.
- Reconcile bank and accounts receivable accounts with thorough analysis and proper documentation for financial reporting.
- Develop monthly and year-end working papers to support annual financial reporting and audits.
- Ensure adherence to expenditure approval policies and collaborate with Accounts Payable on expense classification and account reconciliations.
- Contribute to compliance reporting compilation efforts.
- Produce schedules and reports as required by Investment Finance and Corporate Financial Reporting teams.
- Conduct variance analysis on financial data.
- Prepare regulatory filings for agencies such as Statistics Canada, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Office for National Statistics, and CRA.
- Undertake accounting research projects and provide summary reports.
- Identify and promote process improvements and enhanced efficiencies.
- Support preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Assist with tax filings when necessary.
- Perform other team-related tasks as opportunities arise.
Qualifications
- University degree in Business or a related field.
- Enrollment in Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program is required.
- Familiarity with ASPE and IFRS accounting standards is preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced setting managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience with Oracle software is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is between $72,000 and $108,000, with eligibility for annual Incentive Awards under the Short-term and Long-Term Incentive plans as applicable. Additionally, employees can participate in comprehensive group benefits and retirement plans outlined in the offer letter.
