Role overview

This opportunity sits within RBC’s Global Investment Banking division, which supports corporate clients across public and private companies, government bodies, and private equity firms. The team advises clients on strategic corporate decisions such as acquisitions and divestitures, takeover defence, balance sheet optimisation, debt and equity restructuring, and capital raising.

In this role, you will contribute industry knowledge, market perspective, and technical support to priority clients in the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure coverage area. You will collaborate with internal product specialists and global coverage teams to help deliver high-quality advice and execution support.

What you will do

  • Support transaction execution, new business pitches, client meetings, and related deliverables.
  • Build and refine financial models, conduct research, and analyse data to help senior bankers advise clients.
  • Provide analytical, due diligence, and transaction support for live deals and business development efforts.
  • Partner with Vice Presidents and Associates on pitch books and other client-facing materials.
  • Follow company policies and standards in all business activities.
  • Escalate operational risks, control gaps, and loss events quickly to your manager and relevant risk/control teams.
  • Start developing the skills needed to build relationships with junior client contacts and identify business opportunities.
  • Carry out additional duties and responsibilities that are consistent with your background, experience, and prior work.

What you need to succeed

Must-have qualifications

  • A university degree is required.
  • Interest in learning the full range of investment banking products, including M&A, equity, debt, and convertible securities.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability, with solid knowledge of finance and accounting.
  • Highly driven, with the ability to handle competing priorities and shifting requests.
  • Comfortable taking initiative and working effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, plus strong interpersonal skills for building relationships across levels.
  • A consistent commitment to professional and ethical standards.

Preferred background

  • Prior investment banking experience is an advantage, but it is not mandatory.
