Compliance Department Overview

The Compliance Team at Gemini focuses on pioneering financial crime prevention strategies in a dynamically changing regulatory landscape. The team comprises professionals from technology, legal, compliance, and operations, collectively employing innovative tools and methodologies to address established challenges.

Role Summary

The Analyst in Compliance Investigations will collaborate with an experienced group within the Investigations Team. Key duties include detailed review and adjudication of escalated compliance alerts and cases originating from multiple internal departments such as Transaction Monitoring and Market Surveillance. The role entails preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) for submission and supporting continuous improvements in compliance operations. The position demands adaptability and contribution to advancing Gemini's compliance processes in a fast-evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate customer activities to assess if reporting is necessary under AML regulations and guidelines.
  • Prepare and draft clear and compliant Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
  • Utilize blockchain analytics tools to examine customer transactions and identify both direct and indirect exposures.
  • Analyze a variety of customer data sources including IP addresses, device details, open source intelligence, transaction logs, identification, and financial origin documentation.
  • Engage with customers to obtain supplementary information about their activities.
  • Manage multiple workflows, cases, and priorities effectively within a rapid-paced work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in financial services, law enforcement, digital asset services, or consultative roles focusing on financial crime and compliance.
  • Familiarity with virtual currencies, digital transaction processes, and blockchain tracing or analytics tools.
  • Understanding of AML/BSA and Sanctions regulations along with associated regulatory expectations.
  • Competency in technology use including case management systems and web-based databases.
  • Experience with Google Suite applications such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
  • Strong writing ability and confident presentation skills suitable for senior management audiences.
  • Authorization to work in the United States and proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degrees or certifications such as JD, CAMS, or CFE.
  • Proficiency with blockchain analytics platforms and the use of public blockchain explorers.
  • Comfort navigating regulatory and business changes in a fast-evolving environment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive base salary between $67,500 and $90,000 for New York State, exclusive of discretionary bonuses and equity incentives.
