Job description
About the Role
CMLS Financial combines the stability of a long-established industry player with the pace and energy of a modern, fast-moving business. The company manages more than $45 billion in assets under administration and offers exposure to high-level work, meaningful learning, and room to advance. You will join a professional, collaborative environment backed by a team that is invested in your success, while working with major banks, investment managers, and pension funds across Canada.
The Commercial Capital Markets team is growing and is seeking an Analyst to support the connection between origination and capital markets. The role focuses on helping select and structure insured multifamily mortgages for securitization under the CMHC NHA program. As transaction volume increases, the position is designed to help you build your expertise, take on more complex files, and develop your career over time.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate incoming CMHC term-insured commercial multifamily mortgage opportunities and compare them with investor preferences and mandate requirements to help direct suitable deal flow.
- Group compatible opportunities into efficient pools for securitization.
- Run recurring investor meetings, provide clear updates on pipeline status, explain changes and their impact, and ensure follow-up on open action items.
- Suggest and implement process improvements using Excel and current AI tools to better manage schedules and transaction data as the team grows.
- Coordinate smoothly between internal teams and outside partners while managing competing daily priorities in a high-pressure environment.
What You Bring
- A post-secondary background in finance, real estate, business, or a similar discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience in commercial real estate underwriting, CMHC mortgages, valuation, risk analysis, or credit analysis.
- Strong organization and time-management habits, along with a practical approach to using AI tools to keep deal information moving efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities and the flexibility to adjust communication style for different audiences.
- A proactive communication style that keeps stakeholders informed early, highlights risks quickly, and prevents surprises.
- Advanced Excel capability, including spotting data inconsistencies and digging into the reasons behind them.
Benefits and Support
- Comprehensive health coverage, including drug, vision, and dental insurance, plus health and wellness spending accounts.
- 24/7 access to telemedicine, employee assistance, and mental health support for employees and their families.
- Four weeks of paid vacation, along with personal and sick days and all statutory holidays.
- RRSP matching to support long-term savings and retirement planning.
- Enhanced maternity and parental leave top-up programs.
- Education reimbursement, mentoring, and ongoing training for professional development.
Equal Opportunity and Accessibility
CMLS Financial is an equal opportunity employer and values a diverse, inclusive workplace. Applications are welcomed from all qualified candidates, including Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, women, and members of visible minority and LGBTQ2+ communities. Accommodations related to disability are available upon request for candidates participating in the selection process.
Application Notes
The company will review applications as they come in and will continue until the position is filled. Only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
