Job description
About the Company
CMLS Financial combines the stability of a long-established industry player with the pace and energy of a growing organization. The business manages more than $45 billion in assets under administration and operates across Canada, giving team members meaningful exposure to major market participants and room to advance.
The culture is collaborative, professional, and upbeat, with strong support from colleagues who are invested in each other’s success.
Role Overview
The Commercial Capital Markets team is hiring an Analyst to support the connection between originations and capital markets. The role focuses on helping select and structure insured multifamily mortgages for securitization through the CMHC NHA program. As transaction volumes increase, the team aims to develop the analyst’s capability so they can take on more complex files over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Review incoming CMHC term-insured commercial multifamily mortgage opportunities and assess how each one fits investor mandates and preferences.
- Help build targeted deal flow by organizing suitable opportunities into securitization-ready pools.
- Run recurring investor meetings, share clear updates on pipeline status, and explain any changes and their effects.
- Follow up on outstanding items and keep transaction progress moving.
- Suggest ways to improve team processes, including better use of Excel and modern AI tools for schedule tracking and data handling.
- Balance daily priorities from internal teams and external stakeholders while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness under pressure.
What the Team Is Looking For
- A post-secondary credential in finance, real estate, business, or a closely related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in commercial real estate underwriting, CMHC mortgages, valuation, risk analysis, or credit analysis.
- Strong organizational habits and a mindset focused on working smarter, including comfort using AI tools to manage active deal data.
- Excellent interpersonal communication with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
- Strong awareness of timing and stakeholder management, with a habit of sharing updates early and raising issues quickly.
- Advanced Excel ability, including spotting inconsistencies in complex datasets and digging into the reasons behind the numbers.
Compensation
The advertised pay range for Toronto is CAD 55,000 to CAD 65,000 per year. The same range is also listed for Vancouver.
Benefits and Support
- Coverage for drug, vision, and dental care, plus health and wellness spending accounts.
- 24/7 access to telemedicine, employee assistance, and mental health support for employees and their families.
- Four weeks of paid vacation, along with personal and sick days and all statutory holidays.
- RRSP matching to support long-term savings.
- Maternity and parental leave top-up programs.
- Education reimbursement, mentoring, and ongoing training for professional development.
Equal Opportunity and Accommodation
The employer is committed to equal opportunity and inclusive hiring. Applications are welcomed from all qualified candidates, including Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, women, and members of visible minorities and LGBTQ2+ communities. Accommodation related to disability is available on request throughout the hiring process.
