Role Summary
We are seeking two AML Analysts for one-year fixed term contracts within our AML Program, spanning both Fiat and Crypto teams. The AML team’s mission is to identify, respond to, and mitigate money laundering and terrorist financing risks inherent to Wealthsimple's operations.
Key Learning and Knowledge Areas
- Understanding varieties of money laundering and terrorist financing risks, and application of a risk-based approach.
- Knowledge of Wealthsimple’s obligations, policies, and procedures related to AML and CTF.
- Insight into AML Operations roles in risk reduction.
- Familiarity with due diligence processes and associated data sources.
- Processes to identify and report suspicious client activities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze and investigate AML alerts generated through established policies and tools to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory standards.
- Handle alerts related to automated transaction monitoring, cryptocurrency AML ledger screening, and name screening against adverse media, politically exposed persons, sanctions, and terrorism lists.
- Conduct enhanced due diligence reviews for high-risk clients including politically exposed persons.
- Apply critical thinking, data analytics, and pattern detection techniques to uncover financial crimes.
- Utilize internal systems for information gathering and recording alert outcomes.
- Manage multiple simultaneous alerts while meeting service level agreements within set timelines.
- Participate in calibration sessions with colleagues and other stakeholders to identify emerging trends in financial crime.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum two years experience in AML/CTF roles within fintech or technology-enabled financial services.
- Exceptional precision and focus on detail throughout all reviews.
- Resourcefulness, persistence, and ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong multitasking capabilities with adherence to deadlines.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and regulatory updates.
- Proficiency in analyzing datasets to detect anomalies and suspicious patterns.
- Proactive ownership mentality instead of reactive handling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for technology and desire to enhance knowledge in the AML field.
- Additional certifications such as CAMS or Chainalysis are advantageous but not mandatory.

Compensation
