About the Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia is looking for skilled Aircraft Life Support Technicians to join the AH-64 Apache sustainment and support team operating in Townsville. This position involves repairing and modifying the Aircraft Life Support Equipment (ALSE) suite of the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, a critical asset for the Australian Defence Force's advanced strike capabilities.

Program Overview

The AH-64E Apache program enhances combat helicopter capabilities by enabling precise strike, reconnaissance, and close air support missions. It sustains vital combat readiness, supports allied interoperability, and underpins joint military operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute directly to maintaining a sovereign combat helicopter capability critical to national defence.
  • Perform hands-on repair, maintenance, and modification of aircraft life support systems.
  • Maintain proficiency with aircraft and aeronautical product maintenance standards, modification procedures, and planning documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team to respond to changing operational requirements.
  • Support the overall capability of the Apache program through consistent technical competence and teamwork.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Possession of a Certificate IV in Aeronautical Life Support Equipment or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with the Apache aircraft is required (Certificate of Authorization will be provided).
  • At least five years of experience in military or commercial aircraft maintenance.
  • Experience in maintaining and manufacturing aircraft soundproofing, soft furnishings, and flooring is highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of explosive ordnance handling is considered desirable.
  • Experience with Australian Defence Force procedures and products on larger or rotary wing aircraft platforms is advantageous.
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet defence security requirements.

Additional Information

  • Positions are expected to begin in July and September 2026.
  • The workplace is based at the Army's 16 Aviation Support Battalion (16 ASB) in Townsville, Queensland.
