Role Overview
Join Kids Inc., a leading childcare provider with over 25 years of experience, as an Afterschool Childcare Assistant at Gaelscoil Ghrainne Mhaol in Donaghmede for the 2026/2027 school term. This part-time position offers €18 per hour and a €500 sign-on bonus, with guaranteed minimum 10 weekly hours and the possibility of extending to 20-25 hours during term time.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitating a smooth and positive transition for children after school into the afternoon programme.
- Supporting children with homework tasks in a calm, structured setting while using Irish (Gaeilge) appropriately.
- Leading and engaging in diverse activities such as sports, games, arts and crafts, imaginative and outdoor play through the Irish language.
- Encouraging and fostering children's social, emotional, physical, and creative growth.
- Building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues via the Irish language.
- Contributing to the daily operations of the afterschool service.
- Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for all children present.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- A positive, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Irish (Gaeilge) with confidence to converse daily with children and staff in Irish.
- A genuine passion for supporting child development through play and learning.
- A full driving licence is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Willingness to undergo Garda Vetting and provide references.

Location and Schedule
The role is based onsite at Gaelscoil Ghrainne Mhaol, Donaghmede, and operates during term time starting 26th August 2026. Hours are guaranteed for a minimum of 10 per week with scope for up to 25 hours depending on demand.
Additional Conditions
Successful candidates must complete Garda Vetting and, if applicable, provide a police clearance certificate for any periods of residence outside Ireland exceeding six months since age 18.
