Job description

Role overview

Save the Children International is looking for an Advisor, Education to support its global work. This position sits within the Breakthrough team, which provides strategic, technical, and operational leadership to help deliver programme improvements across the organisation’s global priorities.

The role is focused on strengthening education programming in the Asia-Pacific region by offering practical, timely, and context-aware technical support to country offices. It also helps teams apply evidence-based approaches, access relevant tools and resources, and share learning across the movement.

Team purpose

The Breakthrough team supports country offices with demand-led technical assistance that improves programme quality and alignment with local needs and global priorities. It also contributes to innovation, learning, external engagement, new business development, resource mobilisation, and partnership building.

Key accountabilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for country offices on the planning, delivery, and monitoring of education programmes, making sure work aligns with donor expectations and internal quality standards.
  • Offer proactive technical guidance so country teams can deliver inclusive education programmes that respond to the needs of affected communities.
  • Work with country offices on proposals and strategic plans, ensuring global education priorities are built into programme design and implementation.
  • Travel when required, up to 40%, to priority countries to provide direct support, strengthen implementation, and encourage ongoing learning and innovation.
  • Promote a workplace culture grounded in anti-harassment, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and ensure respect and dignity for staff and beneficiaries.
  • Act as a bridge between country offices and the global team by sharing good practices, lessons learned, and useful resources that improve education programme impact and sustainability.

Application and recruitment process

The recruitment process generally includes CV and cover letter screening, two competency-based interview stages, and may also include an additional assessment, case study, or a third interview round. A conditional offer, followed by a contract, is issued after successful background checks.

The organisation carries out strict safeguarding and background checks to protect children and adults from abuse.
