Job description

Role Summary

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is hiring an Administrative Assistant III for the School of Nursing. This role supports undergraduate and graduate nursing programs by keeping communication smooth, helping students and faculty, and making sure administrative processes run reliably across the school.

The programs operate across three semesters each year and serve about 500 students per semester. The position assists students from admission through graduation, ensures graduation-related paperwork is filed on time, and helps coordinate a wide range of clerical and secretarial work. It also supports selected faculty and staff members, maintains files and correspondence, and helps keep student and program records current.

Core Duties

Responsibilities include supporting undergraduate contract processing, faculty evaluations, and note-taking for program-level meetings. The role also requires continuous updating of student data in E*Value and application records in Salesforce. In addition, it handles paperwork and notifications for undergraduate and graduate nursing orientation, as well as the planning and coordination of graduation and recognition ceremonies.

Minimum Qualification Profile

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus three years of progressively responsible relevant experience. Acceptable experience may include maintaining complex records and files, handling public or customer relations while explaining detailed policies and requirements, preparing financial or statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims, and budgeting forms, or assisting staff and management with projects and activities. Another qualifying path is one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada state service. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.

Diversity and Campus Values

A strong candidate will contribute to a respectful, positive workplace and actively support diversity, equity, and inclusion. The university expects the selected person to reflect campus values and demonstrate a collaborative Rebel spirit.

Pay and Appointment Details

This is a classified, non-exempt, full-time position at Grade 27, Step 1, with a salary of 46,207.44 per year. Initial appointments to classified roles typically begin at Step 1 under Nevada Administrative Code guidance.

Benefits and Perks

Working at UNLV includes a competitive total rewards package, paid time off, sick leave, and holidays, along with medical, dental, and vision coverage. The university also offers retirement and voluntary benefits, no state income tax, tuition discounts at NSHE schools, and tuition discounts for spouses, domestic partners, and dependents.

Additional programs include employee recognition, athletics ticket discounts, statewide purchase discounts, RebelCard savings on and off campus, wellness programming at no cost, career growth opportunities, peer connection opportunities, professional development, and a comprehensive onboarding program called Rebels: Onboard. Veterans also have access to support and resources.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a cover letter and a detailed resume that clearly outlines qualifications and experience. Veterans should also attach a DD-214 or other official documentation if applicable. All documents must be uploaded in the CV/Resume attachment section, and applications submitted without the required materials will not move forward.

Candidates should address their materials to Nakia Jackson-Hale, Search Committee Chair. The application review will rely heavily on how clearly each applicant describes their experience and how it relates to the minimum and preferred qualifications. Education, including high school, and employment history must be fully documented.

The posting closes at midnight Pacific Standard Time on July 13, 2026, and the official posting close date is 07/14/2026. Applications must be submitted electronically through Workday; emailed materials will not be accepted.
