About the Opportunity
BDO Gisborne is looking for an accounting professional who wants to develop a career built around agribusiness, Māori business, or commercial clients. This role offers practical experience with a varied client portfolio and room to grow in the areas that best match your interests and strengths.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain trusted client relationships across agribusiness, Māori business, and commercial sectors.
- Gain exposure to different types of assignments and industries that suit your capabilities and career goals.
- Expand your skills in preparing financial statements, completing tax returns, and handling core accounting tasks.
- Build advisory capability in areas such as cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and hands-on client support.
- Contribute to a career path that is practical, rewarding, and meaningful.
- Use modern technology and AI tools to improve the way work is completed.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 3 years of experience in New Zealand public practice.
- A solid foundation in preparing financial accounts.
- Experience with Xero; familiarity with FYI is considered an advantage.
- A client-focused approach and genuine enjoyment of working with people.
- Curiosity, self-motivation, and a willingness to build experience across different sectors.
